What is ECP
The English Communication Practice (ECP) program supports international teaching assistants (ITAs) in meeting the English for Teaching Requirement by providing flexible, targeted oral communication practice for effective teaching.
Participation in the ECP program includes the following components:
- 8 One-on-One Speaking Consultations with an English Speaking Consultant
- 4 Peer Speaking Practice Group (PSPG) sessions with other ITAs facilitated by an English Speaking Consultant
- 1 Professional Development Event focused on oral communication.
How to Enroll
ITAs placed in the ECP should fill out the following form. Follow up guidance will be provided individually via email.
Timeline
The ECP program may be completed at any time during the first and/or second semester of enrollment at ISU. It is strongly recommended that the initial one-on-one consultation occur within the first month of the first semester to support the development of a personalized actionable plan.
